Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 Unveiled With BIG Changes - Futuristic Setting, "Braching Storylines"
Evidently, the Call of Duty franchise is here to stay and its next title will be all about the future. Say what? Yeap, no more cold wars, no more world wars, no more historically-based wars. Instead, let's welcome some big changes to its franchise and the first of all will be the whole new setting in a futuristic world of robots and highly-advanced arsenals.
But that's not all, along to its Game Director Dave Anthony, the series' linearity "has been thrown away, with the game to feature "branching storylines" and "player choice" allowing players to decide their own path as the game progresses. He also added that, "and all bets are off in term of how you expect this game is going to play".
Before I share my thoughts with you, check out their first trailer featuring an old man, gorilla-looking robots, spaceships, wild wild west horse riding and of course explosions, explosions and michael bay explosions.
Personally, I feel that their new change in setting and the new "branching storylines" will be, hopefully, setting a whole new direction to the franchise. Like it or not, linear storylines and straightforward rambo-like gameplay is not anything fascinating anymore, and this change should revitalise and bring a fresh start to the franchise again. However, they might just lose some fans with the futuristic change. At the end of the day, we already have Halo 4 (releasing just one week before) and Mass Effect 3 to kill aliens. Oh wait, this has no aliens, right?
What's your opinion on this change? Shoot us your thoughts! (:
*Call of Duty: Black Ops 2 releases on November 13 on the PC, PS3 and Xbox360.
