Dota 2 Debuts with The International Championship at Gamescom

Offering a total of $1Million in cash, Valve recently confirmed that they will be debuting the much-awaited Dota 2 at the German Trade Show. As an avid DOTA fan, thought not exactly a 'pro', it was certainly a great piece of news. And to sweeten the deal, Valve is going to hold the game's first ever championship tournament featuring the world's top 16 elite teams from around the world.

The tournament will be held through a group stage, double elimination playoff format over the course of Gamescom's  five-day trade show from August 17 - 21 in Cologne, Germany.

From the official blog:
“The International is the first public Dota 2 event and will give the tens of millions of gamers playing Dota around the world their first look at the new game,” said Gabe Newell, president and founder of Valve. “I have had the good fortune to watch the competitors as they prepare for the tournament, and the level of play is extraordinary.”

Excited?
