Wargaming.net announces professional World of Tanks eSports league

Exploding into the general gaming market and eSports industry last year, World of Tanks has risen to the ranks and popularity globally. Recognising its following and the increasingly-high demand for more, its creators Wargaming.net has unveiled its biggest and most expensive attempt on pushing the game even further into the eSports scene.

2013 will see the start of the first professional World of Tanks league featuring regional tournaments, playoffs and a grand final with up to a whopping $2.5 million of prize pool. Yes, a freaking $2.5 million up for the tops.

In a blogpost on Wargaming.net, Global eSports Director at Wargaming Jonghyuk Baak shared that "Wargaming.net League is a groundbreaking step in our quest to bring the game’s eSports potential into the international spotlight." With such a large amount at stake, and an indefinitely growing population, Wargaming.net league should make quite a statement in the eSports world. No doubt, we're looking forward to how this community will come together.
